Feature guide

What each feature does, how to use it, when it helps, and the questions people ask about it. Menu names match the app.

Basics

Getting started

A short setup that asks only for what Cloksy needs to calculate your day.

How to use it

  1. Open Cloksy and read the three-line welcome. You can choose Skip for now at any time and use sensible regional defaults.
  2. How do you work? Pick the closest match, usually a standard fixed week. Weekly total or shifts opens weekly-hours and rotating-shift patterns.
  3. Your work week. Tap the days you work and set the length of a normal day. The screen shows the resulting weekly total.
  4. Optionally turn on Employer gives a monthly target and enter the working days and hours your company stated for this month.
  5. Gentle reminders (optional): get a nudge to punch in and out. This is when Android asks for notification permission.
  6. Track your earnings (optional): enter your monthly take-home pay or hourly rate.
  7. Review the summary. Tap any row to change it, then Start tracking.
Use caseA new joiner on a Monday-to-Friday, 8-hour job finishes setup in under a minute by choosing the fixed week and tapping Start tracking.
Can I change my answers later?

Yes. Everything from setup lives under Profile. Nothing is locked in.

Why does Cloksy ask nothing about permissions up front?

Cloksy only asks for permission when a feature needs it. Notification permission is requested when you turn on reminders or the first time it is useful. Nothing else is required.

Basics

Punching in and out

The core action. Tap, check the time, confirm. Nothing is saved until you say so.

What it does

The main button on Home reads Punch in now when you are not working and Punch out now when you are. Tapping it opens a small dialog titled Select punch in time (or Select punch out time). The clock in the dialog starts at the current time, so most of the time you just tap OK. The punch is saved only when you tap OK. If you tap Cancel, nothing is recorded.

How to use it

  1. Tap Punch in now when you start work.
  2. Check the time in the dialog. If it is right, tap OK.
  3. If you actually arrived earlier, move the clock to that time first, then tap OK.
  4. When you finish, tap Punch out now, check the time the same way, and tap OK.

Checks that protect your hours

  • A punch-out time that equals the punch-in is refused with the message "Punch out time must be after punch in".
  • A single session longer than 16 hours is refused, because it nearly always means a mistyped time or a forgotten punch-out.
  • Night shifts are fine. Punching in at 10 PM and out at 6 AM counts as one 8-hour session.

Widget, tile and notification work differently

The widget, Quick Settings tile and notification are built for speed. A single tap there records the current minute straight away, with no dialog. As a safeguard, a punch-out in the same minute as the punch-in is ignored, because it is almost certainly an accidental tap.

Use caseYou arrive at 9:07 but only remember at 9:30. Tap Punch in now, move the clock back to 9:07, and tap OK. Your leave-by time is correct from then on.
I saved the wrong time. How do I fix it?

Open the day in the Calendar. You can set Custom hours with the correct punch-in and punch-out, or delete the wrong entry under Punch records (you are asked to confirm).

Can I add a punch for a day I forgot entirely?

Yes. Open the day in the Calendar and set it as Custom hours, entering the punch-in and punch-out time.

Why can I not punch in again after finishing for the day?

By default one completed session closes the day. If you work split shifts or take breaks you want recorded, turn on Allow several punches a day.

Can I delete a punch?

Yes. Open the day in the Calendar, find it under Punch records and choose Delete. You are asked to confirm because it cannot be undone.

Basics

Home screen

Your day at a glance: progress, leave-by time and the month so far.

What you see

  • Greeting and today's date that changes through the day.
  • Progress ring showing time worked against today's target, with labels such as remaining, complete, short or overtime.
  • Leave-by line such as Leave by 5:42 PM. It updates from your punch-in time and schedule. When the target is met it reads Target completed! You can leave now.
  • Today / This month toggle. Swipe or tap to flip between the day and the month view with Worked, Target, Remaining, Overtime and (if enabled) Earned.
  • Month guidance that says whether you are on track, ahead, or how much extra per day catches you up.
  • Recent activity for the last seven days.

Smart messages

You seeMeaning
Punch in to see leave timeYou have not started yet today.
Leave by 5:42 PMTime you complete today's target if you keep working.
Leave by 5:42 PM (+20m catch-up)Includes extra time to recover a small shortfall.
Extra work todayDay off, but your hours count towards the month total.
Flexible schedule, no daily targetYou use flexible mode, so there is no leave-by time.
Day already marked as complete or leaveYou set a status on the day, so there is nothing left to work out.
Use caseYou glance at your phone at 3 PM, see 5h 22m done and Leave by 5:42 PM, and plan the rest of your afternoon without doing any maths.
What does "Ready when you are" or "Day off today" mean?

These are the empty states. On a scheduled day off Cloksy says so and offers Working anyway? Punch in or Change schedule.

Why does the leave-by time move?

It depends on your punch-in time, today's target, and any shortfall you are carrying. Editing the punch-in time or changing your schedule recalculates it.

Tracking

Calendar

A month grid showing which days are complete and which need attention.

How to use it

  1. Open the Calendar tab and move between months with the previous and next arrows.
  2. Read the dots using the legend at the top: Hours logged, Marked complete, In progress, Missing record (a red "!"), Holiday, Leave, Custom hours and Needs verification. Weekly offs get a grey outline.
  3. Tap any day to open its details: punch records, notes and day status.
  4. Use the share button to create the monthly PDF report.
Use caseOn the last working day you scan the month, notice two red days, tap each, set them to Leave or fix the hours, and your totals are right before you send the report.
Can I edit past months?

Yes. Any day in any month can be opened and corrected. Totals, stats and earnings update automatically.

Why is a weekend day not marked as missing?

Days off in your schedule are not expected to have records, so they are shown faded rather than missing.

Tracking

Day status

Tell Cloksy what kind of day it was so targets stay fair.

StatusEffectTypical use
CompletedCounts the full daily targetYou worked a normal day but did not punch.
LeaveAdds 0h and lowers that day's targetSick or casual leave. Paid leave counts for earnings up to your paid-leave allowance.
HolidayAdds 0h, removes the day's targetPublic holiday on a working day.
Custom hoursCounts hours you enter (in and out times)A day that was shorter or longer than usual.
Needs verificationAppears by itself when a punch-out was estimatedOpen the day and confirm or correct the time.

How to use it

Open a day in the Calendar, choose a status, optionally add a note, and save. For custom hours, pick the punch-in and punch-out times and Cloksy shows the total before you confirm.

Use caseDiwali is a public holiday. Mark it as Holiday and the monthly target drops by one day automatically, so you are not shown as behind.
How is paid leave handled in earnings?

In Salary tracking you set how many paid leaves you get this month. Leave days beyond that count do not add to earnings, and the day dialog tells you when the limit is reached.

Does marking a day as Holiday affect my month target?

With a schedule-based target, yes: that day's target is removed. If you entered an employer target for the month, those numbers are already net of public holidays, so they stay as entered.

Tracking

Stats

See whether you are ahead or behind, day by day and month by month.

What you see

  • Week and Month views, with arrows to step through time.
  • A verdict: Ahead of schedule, On track, Slightly behind, Behind schedule or Significantly behind.
  • Avg / day, Best day and Days met.
  • A bar chart of hours against your target line.
  • Weekly breakdown in the month view, and tap View week to jump in.
  • Per-day labels: Target met, Short by, Day off, Extra work, Upcoming, No record.
Use caseHalfway through the month the verdict says Slightly behind. You see the extra minutes per day needed and decide whether to stay late twice or catch up on a weekend.
Why does Stats say "Nothing to show yet"?

You have not punched in yet. Record your first session on Home and the charts fill in.

Are future days counted against me?

No. Future days are labelled Upcoming. Progress is measured against the days that have actually happened.

Set up your work

Work schedule

Tell Cloksy how you work so every target is right. Open it from Profile › Work schedule.

ModeWhat it doesBest for
Fixed schedulePick working days and hours per day, such as Mon–Fri, 8 hours. Customize each day if hours differ. Most office and retail jobs.
Weekly hoursA weekly total, such as 40 hours, spread across the days you work.Part-time, contract or compressed weeks.
Rotating shiftsA repeating cycle, for example 4 days on and 3 off, anchored to a date a work block started.Hospitals, factories, security, hospitality.
Flexible, no targetTracks hours only, with no target and no behind-schedule warnings.Freelancers, gig and irregular work.

How to use it

  1. Open Profile › Work schedule.
  2. Choose a mode. Fixed schedule and Flexible, no target are shown first; tap Other patterns for Weekly hours and Rotating shifts. Then set the days and hours, which accept 8:30 or 8.5.
  3. Use Customize each day to switch individual days off or give days different hours.
  4. Expand Advanced for several punches a day, reminders and pay for work on days off.
  5. Save. If the change affects recorded days, Cloksy warns you first.
A schedule applies to the past too. A new schedule also changes targets, totals, salary and reports for days already recorded, including past months. Your recorded punches themselves never change. Cloksy asks you to confirm, and offers Discard or Keep editing if you back out.
Use caseA nurse works 4 days on, 3 days off. In Rotating shifts she picks the date a block started, and every month shows the right days off and targets without any manual calendar work.
What does "Reset to regional defaults" do?

It restores a typical week for your region, such as Monday to Friday or a Sunday-off week, so you can start over.

What if I only work some Saturdays?
In flexible mode, can I still mark leave and holidays?

Yes. They can still be set on the Calendar. There is simply no daily or monthly target to fall behind on.

Can I see a summary of my schedule?

Yes. The Work schedule row in Profile shows it, for example "8h/day" or "Saturdays 2nd and 4th off".

Set up your work

Alternate Saturdays

Common in many workplaces: some Saturdays are working days and others are not.

How to use it

  1. Make sure Saturday is a working day (under Customize each day, or choose the Mon–Sat preset).
  2. In Saturdays that are off, choose All Saturdays work, 1st & 3rd off, 2nd & 4th off or Only 2nd off.
Use caseYour office is closed on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays. Set it once, and every month's target is correct, so you are never shown as short for a day you were never meant to work.
The Saturday options are missing. Why?

Alternate-Saturday rules need Saturday to be a working day first. Switch Saturday on under Customize each day, or pick the Mon–Sat preset.

Will Cloksy suggest this?

Yes. After a few tracked days it may show a one-time tip asking if every other Saturday is off.

Set up your work

Monthly target

When your employer gives exact numbers, use them for that month.

What it does

Enter the total working days and total working hours your employer states, for example 23 days and 200 hours. For that month only, these replace the schedule-based target on Home, Stats, reports and salary. Cloksy also shows the resulting hours per day.

How to use it

  1. Tap Set this month's target on the Calendar or Stats screen, or open Profile › Work schedule and find Monthly target. You can also set it during setup.
  2. Enter the days and hours.
  3. Save. Use Remove to go back to the schedule-based target for that month.
Holidays. These numbers already exclude public holidays, so the month target stays exactly as entered. Still mark holidays on the Calendar so each day lines up. Your own leave days lower the target.
Use caseHR emails, "November: 21 working days, 168 hours". Enter it once and Cloksy measures the whole month against exactly that.
Does it carry over to next month?

No. It applies only to the month you set it for. Other months follow your schedule until you set them.

Set up your work

Several punches a day

For split shifts, breaks you want recorded, or more than one job.

How to use it

Open Work schedule, scroll to Advanced and turn on Allow several punches a day. You can then punch in and out as many times as you need; Cloksy adds the sessions together.

Use caseA driver works 6–10 AM and 4–8 PM. Two sessions are recorded, and the day shows 8 hours.
Is a lunch break deducted automatically?

No. With several punches on, punch out for lunch and in again afterwards, and only the time actually worked counts.

Stay on top

Reminders

A nudge to punch in and out, only on your working days.

How to use it

  1. Open Profile › Reminders.
  2. Turn reminders on and pick a Punch in time and a Punch out time.
  3. Allow notifications if Android asks.

You also get smart alerts without setting anything: Target reached when you can leave, and Leaving early? if you stop with time still remaining.

Use caseYou keep forgetting to punch in when you reach your desk. A 9:00 AM reminder on working days fixes that, and stays silent on weekends.
Reminders arrive late. What can I do?

Android may delay background alerts to save battery. Reminders are allowed a small time window rather than exact-to-the-second timing, so expect them within roughly ten minutes. If they are much later, tap Fix on the "Reminders arriving late?" card and allow Cloksy to run in the background.

Do reminders survive a restart?

Yes. Cloksy re-arms them after reboot and after app updates.

I denied notification permission. Can I fix it?

Yes: allow Cloksy notifications in Android system settings, then turn reminders on again.

Missed punch-out protection

Forgetting to punch out should not wreck your hours.

What happens

  1. If you stay punched in well past your target, you get Don't forget to punch out!
  2. Tap Enter time to record when you really finished, or Still working to snooze for an hour.
  3. If you do not respond, Cloksy estimates your finish time at midnight, based on your target, and sends Punch-out was estimated.
  4. The day is flagged Needs verification. Open the Calendar, tap the day and confirm or correct it.
Use caseYou rush out to catch a train and forget. The next morning you open the day, see the estimate, and fix it to the real time in three taps.
Are estimated hours marked in reports?

Yes. The PDF report flags days where the punch-out was estimated, so nobody mistakes them for exact records.

Widget, Quick Settings tile and shift notification

Cloksy comes to you, so you rarely need to open the app.

WhereWhat it doesHow to add
Home-screen widgetPunch in/out, shows working-since time, leave-by time, and your week (for example "24h 10m of 40h"). Resizable.Long-press the Home screen › Widgets › Cloksy.
Quick Settings tileShows whether you are working and toggles punch in/out with one tap. On the lock screen it asks you to unlock first.Edit your Quick Settings panel and drag in the Cloksy tile.
Ongoing "Working" notificationWhile punched in, shows a running timer, "Leave at" time and a Punch out button.Appears automatically once you punch in.
No confirmation here. These three record the current minute with one tap. Inside the app Cloksy asks you to confirm the time first. A punch-out in the same minute as the punch-in is ignored.
Use caseYou get to the office and tap the Quick Settings tile with one hand, without unlocking into the app. At day end, tap Punch out in the notification.
The tile is greyed out and says "Today is complete".

You have finished the day and several punches are off, so there is nothing more to record. Turn on several punches if you want to keep logging.

Can I punch from the widget while the app is closed?

Yes. The widget, tile and notification all record punches without opening the app.

Helpful tips

Small cards on Home that appear when something is relevant, and not before.

  • Check a recent punch-out when a punch-out was estimated.
  • Your monthly report is ready near the end of the month.
  • Every other Saturday off? after a few tracked days.
  • See what your hours are worth once you have tracked about a week, if salary tracking is off.

At most one tip appears per day, each is shown once, and you can Dismiss any of them.

Money and sharing

Salary estimate

Optional. See what your hours are worth as the month builds up.

How to use it

  1. Open Profile › Salary tracking and switch it on. Set up your month's working days and daily target first, since earnings are split across them, not guessed.
  2. Choose a payment model: Monthly salary (enter your net take-home) or Hourly wage.
  3. Pick your currency symbol from the popular list or type your own.
  4. Set Paid leaves this month. Leave days beyond that count are unpaid.
  5. Optionally turn on Apply to upcoming months, then Save settings.

The screen shows a live rate breakdown per day, per hour and per minute. Home shows Earned against the month, and each day dialog shows what that day earned.

Advanced

Pay for work on days off sets a multiplier (1× Normal, 1.5× or 2× Double) for hours worked on a weekly off or holiday, used only in the estimate.

An estimate, not payroll. Cloksy's earnings are for personal planning. Taxes, bonuses and employer rules can differ, so it is not an official or legal record.
Use caseA contractor on an hourly wage sees earnings climb each day, and by day 20 knows roughly what the invoice will be.
Is my salary data sent anywhere?

No. It stays on your device. Cloksy has no internet permission.

Can different months have different salaries?

Yes. Salary is kept per month. Use Apply to upcoming months to roll a rate forward, or change a single month, and use Reset month to clear one.

How is flexible mode converted to a rate?

With no target, Cloksy uses a standard 40 hours per week reference to convert monthly pay to an hourly rate.

Should I enter gross or net?

Enter your net take-home pay, the amount you actually receive, so the estimate reflects real money.

Monthly PDF report

A clean record of one month that you can send to a manager or HR, or keep for yourself.

How to use it

  1. Set your name in Profile › User profile. It appears on the report.
  2. Open the Calendar, go to the month you want, and tap Share <Month> record at the bottom.
  3. If some days have no record or status, Cloksy lists them. Choose Fill missing days to fix them, or Continue anyway.
  4. If salary tracking is on, choose Include or Don't include for the earnings line.
  5. Use the share sheet to send the PDF by email or a messaging app, or save it.

The top of the page

LineWhat it tells you
Monthly Time ReportThe month this report covers, and the Cloksy version that made it.
Prepared forYour name from User profile. Left out if you have not set one.
Target · Worked · Working DaysTarget is the hours you were expected to work this month. Worked is the hours you actually logged. Working Days is how many days the month's target is spread over.

"N days with no recorded data"A red warning when some days have neither punches nor a status. Those days appear in red in the table.

The table, column by column

There is one row for every day from the 1st up to today. Future days are not listed.

ColumnWhat it shows
DateThe day, for example "Thu, Oct 1".
StatusWorking (you punched), Completed, Custom hours, Leave, Holiday or Needs verification as you set them. Weekly off for a normal day off. Extra work when you worked on a day off. MISSING (in red) when a working day has no record at all.
Punch In / OutOne line per punch, for example "9:04 am – 5:12 pm", with that session's length at the right. If you have not punched out the line ends with "open". "(+1)" after a time means the shift ended after midnight, the next day.
HoursThe total for the day, for example "8h 8m". A dash on leave, holiday and weekly-off days.
vs TargetHow the day compares with its target. Green +8m means 8 minutes more than expected. On target means exactly right. Red -30m means 30 minutes short. A dash on leave, holiday and day-off days, or when there is no data. If you work on a day off, the whole day counts as green extra.
NotesYour own note for the day. Cloksy adds "No record found" on missing days, "Extra working day" for work on a day off, and "Needs verification" when it estimated a forgotten punch-out.

At the bottom of every page: "Personal record kept with Cloksy. Not an official payroll or legal document.", the date it was made, and "Page 1 of 1".

Use caseYour company asks for a timesheet each month. Open the Calendar, fix the one red day, tap Share, and send the PDF from the share sheet.
Is the report an official document?

No. It says so on the page: it is a personal record kept with Cloksy, not an official payroll or legal document.

Can I make a report for a past month?

Yes. Go to that month in the Calendar and use the share button.

Why is a row red?

The day was a working day but has no punches and no status, so Cloksy cannot tell what happened. Open the day in the Calendar and set it, then share the report again.

Why does a day show "Working" and not "Completed"?

"Working" simply means you punched in and out that day. "Completed" appears only when you used the Completed status on the Calendar instead of punches.

Excel and CSV export

Every punch you have ever recorded, in a file you can sort, filter and chart.

How to use it

Open Profile › Export data and choose Excel workbook (.xlsx) or CSV file (.csv), then pick where to send it. Unlike the PDF, an export covers all your data, not one month.

Only days that have data are listed. A day with no punches and no status is not in the file at all, and neither are weekly offs you did not work. A missing day will therefore not appear as a row. Use the PDF if you need to see the gaps.

Excel: three sheets

The workbook opens on Summary. The other two sheets are Daily and Punches. The header rows are frozen and have filter arrows, and dates and times are real values, so sorting, filtering, charts and pivot tables work straight away.

Sheet 1: Summary (the month-by-month totals)

The top four lines are the title, the date it was generated, your name and the personal-record notice. Below them is one row per month and a Total row.

ColumnMeaning
MonthThe month, for example "Oct 2026".
Days workedHow many days in that month have more than zero hours worked.
Worked (h)Total hours worked that month, as a decimal number. 152.25 means 152 hours 15 minutes.
Target (h)Hours you were expected to work that month, from your schedule.
Difference (h)Worked minus Target. Positive means you are ahead. Negative means you are short.

These cells are live formulas that read the Daily sheet, so if you edit a number in Daily the Summary updates. Target (h) adds up the targets of the days listed in Daily, so it can be lower than the PDF's month target when some working days have no data and are therefore not listed.

Sheet 2: Daily (one row per day)

ColumnMeaning
DateThe calendar date.
DayShort weekday name, such as Mon or Tue.
StatusThe day's status: Working, Completed, Custom hours, Leave, Holiday or Needs verification.
SessionsHow many punch-in and punch-out pairs the day has. 0 for leave, holiday and hand-entered days.
First inTime of the earliest punch-in that day.
Last outTime of the latest punch-out that day.
Worked (h:mm)Hours worked written as hours and minutes, for example 8:41. Easy to read.
Worked (h)The same amount as a decimal, for example 8.68. Use this one for maths, because 8:41 cannot be added or multiplied reliably.
Target (h)Hours you were expected to work that day. 0 on days off, leave and holidays.
Difference (h)Worked (h) minus Target (h). Positive means extra, negative means short.
NotesAny note you wrote on the day.

Worked (h:mm) and Worked (h) are the same number written two ways. They are there on purpose, so you can read one and calculate with the other.

A worked example

Two days from the Daily sheet. The first is a normal day, the second a split shift.

DateDaySessionsFirst inLast outWorked (h:mm)Worked (h)Target (h)Difference (h)
2026-10-27Tue109:0017:418:418.688.000.68
2026-10-28Wed206:0020:008:008.008.000.00
  • Row 1: 8 hours 41 minutes is 8.68 hours (41 ÷ 60 = 0.68). The target was 8, so the difference is +0.68.
  • Row 2: the person worked 06:00–10:00 and 16:00–20:00. First in and Last out span 14 hours, but Worked is only 8:00, because the gap in the middle is not counted. Do not work out hours from First in and Last out when a day has several sessions.

Sheet 3: Punches (one row per punch)

This is the most detailed sheet. A day with two sessions has two rows.

ColumnMeaning
DateThe calendar date of the punch.
DayShort weekday name.
SessionThe number of the punch within its day: 1 for the first, 2 for the second, and so on.
Punch inWhen you punched in.
Punch outWhen you punched out. Blank if you are still punched in.
Duration (h:mm)Length of that one session as hours and minutes, for example 8:08.
HoursThe same length as a decimal, for example 8.13.

Days you marked as Completed, Custom hours, Leave or Holiday without punching have no row here. They only appear in Daily.

CSV: one simple table

The CSV is a single plain table with one row per punch, so a day with two sessions has two rows. It has no totals and no targets, just the raw data for other programs.

ColumnMeaning
DateWritten year-month-day, for example 2026-10-27, so it sorts correctly everywhere.
DayShort weekday name.
StatusThe day's status. It repeats on every row of that day.
Session1, 2, 3 and so on within the day. Blank for days with no punches, such as leave.
Punch in / Punch out24-hour times, for example 17:41. Punch out is blank while still punched in.
HoursLength of that session as a decimal with a dot, for example 8.68. For leave and holidays it is blank. For a day with hand-entered hours it holds those hours.
NotesYour note, shown only on the first row of the day.

Dates, times and decimals are written the same way on every computer, so the file opens correctly in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and databases. If a note starts with =, +, - or @, Cloksy puts an apostrophe in front so the program treats it as text, not a formula.

Use caseYou switch jobs and want a year of hours in one place. Export Excel, keep the file, and use the Summary sheet for monthly totals and the Daily sheet for a pivot table by weekday.

Cool things to do with your Excel data

Cloksy shows you a week or a month at a time. Once your hours are in a spreadsheet you can answer bigger questions that the app does not cover.

These ideas use the Daily and Punches sheets from the Excel export. They work the same in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers. Column letters are shown so you can copy the formulas as they are.

Which letter is which column?

Spreadsheets name columns with letters at the top (A, B, C and so on). Find the column you want below, then use its letter in the formulas on this page.

Where to type a formula: click the first empty cell to the right of your data in row 2 (column L on the Daily sheet), type the formula, press Enter, then drag the small square at the cell's corner down to fill the rest of the rows.

1. Your running overtime balance

What you learn: whether you are owed time overall, across months. The app tells you ahead or behind for one month at a time.

How: on the Daily sheet, in a new column L, enter =SUM($J$2:J2) and fill down. The last row is your total hours ahead (or behind) since you started.

2. Which weekday do you work longest?

What you learn: whether Fridays quietly run short or Mondays run long.

How: for one weekday, =AVERAGEIFS(H:H,B:B,"Mon",H:H,">0"). Type the weekday exactly as it appears in column B, which follows your phone's language. Or build a pivot table with Day in Rows and Average of Worked (h) in Values.

3. Your average start and finish time

What you learn: how consistent you really are, and when your day really ends.

How: =AVERAGE(E:E) for the average first punch-in and =AVERAGE(F:F) for the average last punch-out. Format the cell as time. Blank days are ignored. Night shifts that cross midnight will distort this one.

4. How many days did you start late?

How: =COUNTIF(E:E,">"&TIME(9,30,0)) counts the days your first punch-in was after 9:30. Change the time to match your workplace.

5. Find your breaks

What you learn: how long your breaks really are. The app adds up sessions but does not show the gaps between them.

How: on the Punches sheet, where you have several sessions a day, enter =IF(A3=A2,D3-E2,"") in row 3 and fill down. Format the result as time. It shows the gap between one punch-out and the next punch-in on the same day.

6. Calculate pay with your own overtime rules

What you learn: an estimate that follows your contract, not a fixed multiplier.

How: total extra hours is =SUMIF(J:J,">0"). Multiply by your own overtime rate, for example =SUMIF(J:J,">0")*B1*1.5 with your hourly rate in B1. Use =-SUMIF(J:J,"<0") for total hours short.

7. Bill hours per client or project

What you learn: how many hours each client got, which the app does not track on its own.

How: start each day's note in Cloksy with a tag such as Acme: or Globex:. In Excel, =SUMIF(K:K,"Acme*",H:H) adds the hours of every day tagged Acme. Works best when one client is worked per day.

8. Count leave, holidays and custom days

How: =COUNTIF(C:C,"Leave") and =COUNTIF(C:C,"Holiday"). Type the status as it appears in column C, which follows your phone's language.

9. Chart your year

What you learn: the shape of your year at a glance.

How: on the Summary sheet, select the Month, Worked (h) and Target (h) columns and insert a clustered column chart. Add the Difference column as a line to see when you ran ahead or behind.

10. Highlight short days automatically

How: select column J on the Daily sheet, then add Conditional formatting › Less than 0 with a red fill. Every short day stands out.

11. Rank your longest and shortest days

How: use the filter arrows on the Daily sheet and sort Worked (h) from largest to smallest. Your hardest days come first.

12. Check your payslip or employer's figure

How: compare the Summary sheet's Worked (h) for a month with the hours on your payslip or timesheet. If they differ, the Daily sheet shows exactly which days to look at.

Use caseA contractor tags each day's note with a client name, exports to Excel at month end, and uses idea 7 to produce one hours total per client for the invoice, in a couple of minutes.
Do I need Excel?

No. Google Sheets (free) and Numbers on iPhone and Mac open the file and support the same formulas. LibreOffice does too.

My formula shows an error or zero.

The most common cause is text that does not match. Weekday and status names follow your phone's language, so copy them from the sheet instead of typing them. Also check that the cell is formatted as a number, or as time for time values.

Will my formulas survive the next export?

No. Each export makes a new file. Keep your analysis in a separate workbook or copy the Daily sheet into it each time.

Why is 8h 30m shown as 8.50 in some columns?

Decimal hours are minutes divided by 60, so 30 minutes is 0.50 of an hour. That is what lets a spreadsheet add and multiply them. Quick guide: 15 min = 0.25, 30 min = 0.50, 45 min = 0.75, 10 min = 0.17, 20 min = 0.33, 40 min = 0.67.

Why does Worked not equal Last out minus First in?

When a day has more than one session, the time between them (a break, for example) is not counted as work. Worked adds up only the sessions themselves.

My Excel totals do not match the PDF.

Excel only counts days that have data, and the PDF lists every day up to today. A missing day has no hours in either file, but only the PDF shows it. Fill the missing days in Cloksy and export again.

Dates or accents look wrong when I open the CSV.

Open the file with Excel's Data › From Text/CSV and choose UTF-8, or import it into Google Sheets. The file is UTF-8 and has the marker Excel needs, so most programs read it correctly by double-click.

Can I import an export back into Cloksy?

No. Exports are readable copies, not backups, and Cloksy cannot import them.

Does the export include my salary?

No. Excel and CSV exports contain hours only. Earnings can only be added to the PDF, and only if you choose Include.

Troubleshooting

My target looks wrong for a month.
  1. Check Work schedule: working days, hours, and Saturday rules.
  2. Mark public holidays on the Calendar.
  3. If your employer gives exact numbers, use Monthly target.
Hours changed on old days after I edited my schedule.

This is expected. Targets are recalculated from your schedule, including for past months. Recorded punches remain untouched.

The widget or tile does not update.

Open Cloksy once, then check battery optimisation for the app. Removing and re-adding the widget also refreshes it.

I changed phones. Where is my data?

Cloksy has no cloud sync. If Android backup restores app data on the new device you may see it; otherwise export to Excel or CSV from the old phone first.

I punched out but the day is marked "Needs verification".

The punch-out was estimated earlier. Open the day and confirm the time to clear it.
